  18. I`ve not taken a close look at the Lightave SDK stuff yet, but wondered if
  19. someone in the know could answer this question.

  21. I`m planning on writing a Microstation/ModelView design file reader as a 
  22. plug-in for Lightwave.  The Microstation design file has actual spline-based
  23. elements, and the problem in the past was converting these to facets during
  24. a file conversion.

  26. Is it possible for a Plug-In to control both LightWave & Modeller at the
  27. same time?  I think this plugin would have to use Modeller to create faceted
  28. models from Microstation spline-based elements, and then pass them through
  29. to Layout.  At the same time, I want to retrieve Texture information and
  30. automatically set these objects to match.

  34. It will be definately feasable for me to develop this once I have Lightwave
  35. for Windows NT, and use MSVC+ to develop the plug-in.

  37. John, did you ever get chance to look at Microstation DGN file format? I`d
  38. be interested in you comments of using Modeller to re-construct faceted 
  39. versions of spline-based elements, instead of writing the code to do it
  40. yourself.
